Emalie Coplan, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Minneapolis MN
I enjoy working with adult individuals who want to process past trauma and relearn how to feel safe in the present. I frequently work with people who grew up in dysfunctional families, and have experienced neglect and abuse in close relationships. These experiences often lead to secondary challenges such as depression, anxiety, and relational difficulties. I work with clients to reconnect to their authentic selves.
I hold licenses as a marriage and family therapist in MN and OR. My therapeutic approach is informed by family systems theory and critical theory, which lends me a holistic understanding of the interconnected systems influencing our lives and relationships. In our work together, I prioritize acknowledging your efforts with the available tools, guiding you to foster more fulfilling connections with yourself, community, and your experiences, and integrating your emotions to instill hope and empower your sense of agency. I specialize in supporting queer and transgender individuals, those affected by developmental or complex trauma, and individuals managing mood disorders. With a background in community mental health care since 2015, I utilize an integrated psychotherapy approach encompassing various methodologies such as IFS, acceptance and commitment therapy, somatic experiencing, mindful self-compassion, narrative therapy, neurobiology, EMDR, brainspotting, and exploring non-ordinary states of consciousness.
