Clients that get the most out of our work together are not seeking my direct advice or answers, and are not looking for me to enter our sessions with an agenda. Rather, I work collaboratively with my clients. I believe it is important to make clear from the beginning that though I have a doctorate level of training and experience working with a wide range of clinical populations, I do not consider myself an expert of your life. Instead I consider you the expert - the one who understands best how you will heal. I am here to support you in discovering what that means for you. I have been told by clients that I ask questions that help deepen their understanding of themselves and that I have a gentle way of offering new perspectives. Clients who benefit most in working with me also tend to have a spiritual inclination and a strong sense of humor. If any of this resonates with you, please reach out - I look forward to connecting and working together.
My name is Dr. Gabrielle Wolk and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) with a concentration in Health Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I worked in long term care communities with individuals who were experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, substance use disorders, other severe and chronic mental illness, and stress related to adjustment to aging, medical conditions, and disabilities. Currently, I am a therapist at a nonprofit center that serves people living with cancer, as well as their loved ones. In this work I have gained even more specialized experience working with individuals who are adjusting to their own or a loved one’s cancer diagnosis, facing their own or their loved one’s terminal illness, or those grieving the loss of a loved one. In 2022 I also opened my private practice, New Moon Counseling, PLLC which is dedicated to honing in on my existing professional strengths and interests, while also growing into other areas based on my expanding personal interests. Aside from the previously described mental health issues I support in therapy, I am also offering harm reduction and integration support for individuals who work with psychedelic medicines. I have and continue to immerse myself in as much content as I can surrounding the use of psychedelic medicines to support mental health. Below are some highlights of my related training and experiences: -Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) MDMA-Assisted Therapy training program. -I served as a volunteer for Fireside Project, a peer support hotline for supporting individuals who are experiencing a psychedelic journey in the moment or working on integration after the experience. -End of Life Psychedelic Care’s (EOLPC) Core Program -Alchemy Community Therapy Center’s Ketamine Assisted Therapy training course. -I worked at a mental health clinic in Chicago as a Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy therapist providing preparation and integration support for clients' Ketamine infusions **Please note: I am a PSYPACT approved provider so I can meet virtually with clients who live outside of Illinois in PSYPACT approved states.**
