Kimberly Austin, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Decatur GA
I have been a therapist for over 20 years and have trained in various therapeutic approaches. I weave these modalities and my experience into my work with clients. I find that people know themselves more than they think and can trust themselves more than they have come to believe. Part of my role is to help them to access this knowing. I frequently use Brainspotting, EMDR, and parts work with clients. I see adults and couples. Compassion, honesty, and humor are key aspects of my approach. I have a profound respect for the human spirit and believe that we all have the capacity to experience life meaningfully-- with purpose and joy. I believe the mind, body, and spirit are deeply connected and we all hold the capacity to heal. Clients have described me as "genuine" and "down to earth" and I consider it an honor to do this work.
I became a therapist because I like to help people suffer less and live better lives. I have a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Hunter College School of Social Work in New York City. I see adults and couples in person in the Atlanta area where I currently reside. I also see clients virtually in Maine (my beautiful home state) and New York where I also spent time living. My specialties include anxiety, trauma, PTSD, couples counseling, depression, ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP), and performance enhancement. Before and after becoming a therapist, I worked in a range of settings and populations including community based non-profits, internet startups, digital marketing and with Fortune 500 companies in New York City, Boston, and Maine. These experiences provided me a unique perspective on various workplace, career, social, spiritual, and mental health issues. I approach therapy through an intersectional lens and am committed to antiracism. I have always been fascinated by various religions and spiritual practices as a way of understanding what it is to be human.
