LISA SMITH, LCSW

CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER
Poulsbo WA
Most clients prefer meeting in person, thought it isn't possible for everyone. Working together starts with a brief phone call. When a relationship starts, there are different templates I'll ask to be reviewed. Typically, issues related to PTSD, dissociation, depression, anxiety, ADHD and OCD are discussed. Using scored templates related to the DSM-5 tr, the shared diagnostics and symptoms are reviewed. Agreeing on changes and a plan of action, we move to the next appointment. The importance of individual resonance with the plan to have an action/hope trajectory is paramount to each visit's success. The "plan" can always be rewritten.
Immersed in crisis and psychiatric medicine for 30 years, I started a private practice in Poulsbo, WA , 4 years ago, where I have in person and virtual visits. My clients in TX and VA are virtual. I'm active in professional and community groups to assist people with access. I bill insurances for preparing and integrating medicine sessions. I was raised in the south of Texas in the 1960's. I witnessed hierarchy of privilege due to a person's sex or ethnicity. I was raised in a prosperous home but the different treatment of different populations then and now, doesn't make sense to me. The cruelty of exclusion in community or family groups is often overlooked. To my practice, community is an important focus for healing as medicine insights are integrated.
Community groups in Poulsbo are recommended through the Otherwise Society. Integration circles, ecstatic dance and many choices to meet anyone in a space of "radical inclusion" are encouraged. Many offerings at the Otherwise Society are not related to psychedelics. It is an alcohol free, "third space" near my office.
