- Do you feel depressed?
- Are feelings of anxiety robbing you of peace, pleasure, joy?
- Are you overly critical of yourself?
- Do you feel numb or disconnected from yourself and others? Does pain from past hurts keep you in a fearful, angry, or disembodied state?
- Do you use substances, work, social media, or other outlets to get temporary pleasure and distract you from what’s going on deeper down?
- Do you find it hard to love yourself or others?
- Do you choose relationships that aren't healthy for you?
- Are you living in conflict with your core values?
- Do you have trouble finding peace, accepting yourself, being kind to yourself?
Counselling can help. Each person and their life story is unique and I approach each therapeutic relationship as a new experience. I strive to meet you where you are while inviting any parts of you wanting or needing healing and growth to enter our therapeutic space. I believe that deep healing happens in the presence of acceptance, respect, and compassion. It is also facilitated by invitation rather than force.
In the first few sessions we will get to know each other and develop an understanding of the aspects of your life and internal world that you would like to change. We will design a plan to guide these changes and set milestones to measure progress. The next several sessions are filled with the work of your healing journey at this time. We will work together to help you find a path to wellness, wholeness, and balance.
My path to becoming a counsellor and coach began with my own journey of healing and growth. From this I developed a passion for connecting with and supporting others. I have dedicated the last 17 years to the study and practice of helping people in their journeys of wellness. In addition to a Master of Social Work degree, I also have training and experience in:
- Mindfulness
- Embodied inquiry
- Somatic healing practices
- Parts integration
- Working with trauma
- Addictions treatment
- Harm reduction
- Journey preparation and integration
- Cognitive behavioural therapy
- Life coaching; and more
On a personal note, I am the grateful father of 3 amazing children and partner to a wonderful woman. In addition to counselling, some things that bring me fulfillment are spending time with loved ones, connecting with nature, travel, cooking and enjoying tasty food, salsa and bachata dancing, and working on my own personal growth.
