Matt Xavier, CADC-II, CPDJ
State Certified Addiction Counselor, Certified Gestalt Therapist, Certified Psychedelic Guide & Integration Counselor, Professional DJ
Sedona AZ
I offer psychedelic therapy, integration counseling, and experiential therapies, with a specialization in music-centered approaches to healing.
My work is grounded in a structured process that includes preparation, guided experiences, and integration support. Whether or not psychedelics are involved, our work focuses on building awareness, processing emotional material, and creating meaningful, lasting change.
Together, we clarify intentions, address fears or uncertainties, and develop the internal resources needed to navigate both everyday life and expanded states of consciousness. My role is not to direct your experience, but to help you stay connected to it, especially when things become challenging or unfamiliar.
This work is available as traditional counseling, psychedelic preparation and integration, or guided sessions for those who are appropriate and ready.
Matt Xavier is a professional ambient-downtempo DJ, gestalt experiential counselor, and psychedelic-assisted therapist. He is the author of The Psychedelic DJ: A Practical Guide to Therapeutic Music Curation & Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy.
He brings together over 30 years of experience in music and more than 15 years in clinical counseling, specializing in trauma-informed, experiential work with individuals navigating addiction, co-occurring disorders, and major life transitions.
Matt began his career in the early 1990s underground electronic music scene in New York City, where he co-founded Tsunami Productions and helped introduce psychedelic trance to the North American East Coast. He has performed internationally for decades.
After training in addiction counseling at Loyola Marymount University and becoming certified in Gestalt therapy, his work evolved toward deeper experiential and somatic approaches. A pivotal psilocybin experience in 2015 led him to integrate his clinical background with his lifelong relationship to music.
He is the founder of Integrated Psychedelics, where he offers preparation, guided sessions, and integration support. His work emphasizes safety, attunement, and the use of counseling and music as central therapeutic tools within psychedelic and non-psychedelic contexts.
He is the creator of Therapeutic DJing™, a modality that combines clinical counseling with intentional music curation to support emotional processing and psychedelic-assisted therapy.
I offer several structured pathways depending on your needs, experience level, and readiness:
Preparation & Integration Counseling:
For individuals planning a psychedelic experience or working to integrate a past one. Sessions focus on intention-setting, emotional processing, and translating insights into meaningful, lasting change.
Psychedelic Guiding & Journey Facilitation:
For clients who are appropriate and prepared for deeper work. This includes a structured process of preparation sessions, a guided journey experience, and post-journey integration support.
Experiential Counseling & Somatic Therapy (Non-Psychedelic):
Ongoing counseling for individuals seeking support with trauma, addiction, life transitions, or emotional regulation. This work does not require psychedelics and serves as a strong foundation for deeper therapeutic work.
Therapeutic Music Curation & Playlist Design:
A specialized component of my work where music is used intentionally to support emotional processing and guide the arc of a session. This may include curated playlists, therapeutic soundtrack design for psychedelic work, or live music-centered support within guided sessions.
Professional Consultation, Clinical Supervision & Mentorship:
For therapists, guides, and helping professionals seeking support around psychedelic preparation and integration, music-centered approaches, case consultation, or the development of their own therapeutic style and practice.
Benefactor-Supported Journey Fund:
A limited number of reduced-fee opportunities are available for clients seeking financial support. Priority is given to veterans and first responders. This fund is supported by benefactors who believe in increasing access to safe, intentional psychedelic care.
Introductory Consultation:
If you’re unsure where to begin, an introductory consultation can help determine the most appropriate path based on your goals, history, and level of readiness.
