Rebecca Kass, MD
Psychiatrist
Lafayette CO
I work with clients by taking a holistic approach to mental health that focuses on helping them rediscover their innate strength and resilience. In the first meeting, I aim to truly understand each client’s unique story—considering not just their symptoms but also their hopes, fears, and dreams. This allows for the creation of a personalized treatment plan that addresses immediate needs while building a foundation for long-term growth.
I integrate evidence-based psychiatric treatments, such as CBT, DBT, and ACT, with holistic therapies like yoga, meditation, and Ayurvedic practices to support the psychological, biological, social, and spiritual well-being of my clients. By exploring concerns from multiple angles, I ensure that each person receives a comprehensive plan for healing and lasting change. Her expertise in both traditional and cutting-edge treatments allows her to offer a well-rounded approach to mental health, tailored to each individual’s needs.
My name is Rebecca Kass, and my journey into psychiatry has been anything but conventional. Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, I graduated as my high school’s valedictorian before earning a bachelor’s degree in creative writing, music, and chemistry from Eckerd College. Initially skeptical of Western medicine’s reactive approach to health, I sought a broader perspective by taking a gap year in India, where I studied and taught yoga while managing a popular blog. I loved helping people find psychological peace through yoga, but I soon realized that to have a larger impact, I would need to become a medical doctor. Motivated by this vision, I excelled on the MCAT, scoring in the 99th percentile and earning a merit-based scholarship to the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.
Throughout medical school, I remained committed to integrative mental health. I founded the Integrative Mental Health Colloquium, continued teaching yoga, and published research on nature exposure and yogic breathing. This work earned me induction into the Research Honor Society and recognition as the Departmental Scholar of Distinction in psychiatry. I was fortunate to attend psychiatric residency at the University of New Mexico with its reputation for innovation in emerging fields of psychedelic and integrative psychiatry. In addition to my required residency rotations, I completed a Certificate in Integrative Medicine from the University of Arizona and secured the prestigious Rosenbaum Research Grant for my pilot study on the role of MDMA in maternal-infant bonding. I also trained in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, MDMA-assisted psychotherapy, and psychedelic harm reduction, and served as president of the psychedelic medicine interest group.
Since graduating residency and passing my board exams, I have been practicing as an outpatient psychiatrist in Boulder, Colorado. I continue to cultivate knowledge in integrative and psychedelic work to better serve my patients. I recently completed the Certificate in Nutritional Psychiatry from the Integrative Psychiatric Institute and expanded my experiential knowledge of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and psychedelic integration. My journey has been shaped by diverse influences, and I remain dedicated to supporting whole-person health and helping individuals harness their natural healing potential.
