Richard Benson, LCSW

Clinical Social Worker
Gig Harbor WA
I have worked with clients that have decided to pursue psychedelic assisted care in order to tap into and unlock potential for growth. I have assisted clients in preparing for such an undertaking as well as working to complete integration work upon their completion of a psychedelic journey, I meet clients where they are at in their own journeys of healing to tailor treatment needs to treat symptoms and to encourage ongoing growth towards health and wellness goals.
Richard began assisting families in 1999, teaching school. He then worked at a therapeutic wilderness program followed by other mental health programs where he provided crisis intervention, case management, and counseling for individuals and families. Seeing the multiple needs of the families he served, he decided to pursue other avenues to help and went back to school to enhance his skills and abilities. His experience within this field increasingly adds value to the therapeutic and consulting process and encourages others to work harder to meet a family's cultural, spiritual, emotional and other unique needs. Richard has worked in a wide range of therapeutic settings including wilderness programs, substance abuse treatment facilities, hospitals, academia, the military, and he has served as a clinical liaison to the courts and school systems. I have worked with first responders, including EMT, fire fighters and military personnel. I assisted in the development of a treatment program at JBLM to treat addiction and trauma and served in multiple embedded behavioral health clinics (EBHs) including for special operators. Richard now operates his own therapeutic private practice serving clients in the state of Washington.
I offer individualized care to patients to include trauma treatment, addiction treatment, integration support and family support.
