I see therapy as a process of accompaniment. I emphasize the therapeutic relationship and creating a warm, compassionate space for healing to unfold. I am passionate about supporting people as they hold big emotions and big questions. I take an attitude of curiosity, non-judgment, and openness with my clients, and encourage thoughtful exploration. Though many of the themes we encounter through psychedelic experiences are universal, each person's relationship with them will be different. I tailor my approach to your unique needs—whether that means working with symbolism, dreams, and imagery, or focusing on practical ways to integrate your experience into daily life. Some clients come to make sense of a single journey, while others seek ongoing support for personal transformation.
I'm Sara, a licensed psychotherapist based in Knoxville, Tennessee and currently seeing clients via telehealth in Tennessee and Illinois. I specialize in supporting individuals who are making sense of life-changing experiences. Exploring non-ordinary states of consciousness can be profound, beautiful, and challenging. These experiences can leave us with new insights, new questions, and profound changes in our sense of self and our way of relating to ourselves, others, and the world. They can also be disappointing or frightening. Together, we will explore what has surfaced, helping you integrate your experience into the rest of your life and discover what wisdom may be found.
In addition to supporting people with psychedelic integration, I work with people experiencing grief, loss, trauma, chronic or terminal illness, and major life transitions. I also have a background in Comparative Religion and Buddhist studies, and have worked for many years as an interfaith chaplain in hospital and university contexts.
