Typically I first meet with people interested in ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP) for a 1 hour medical intake to ensure that KAP is safe and appropriate based on their history and therapeutic goals. We discuss how the medicine works, what to expect, dosing, and begin to explore intentions. Often times we will meet for another hour preparatory session before we schedule a 2 hour one-on-one medicine session. The ketamine journey makes up the first hour and we begin integration during the second hour. I ask that they have an appointment set up with their therapist within a few days to continue to process the experience and integration. Most people will plan from anywhere from 4 to 8 medicine sessions.
I am a physician, folk herbalist, and certified mindfulness teacher based in West Los Angeles where I see patients seeking integrative medicine. As a component of my holistic practice, I see people for in-person ketamine assisted psychotherapy, in collaboration with their therapists. I have a deep belief in the importance of seeing the whole person's needs - body, mind, heart and spirit.
