Tethered Healing
Boulder CO
We provide legal psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy in conjunction with Colorado regulations. We also provide ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), relational psychodynamic therapy, and somatic therapy.
After years of working in the field, we have learned that, in the U.S., these medicines work best when held in an established therapeutic relationship. We take a slow, gradual, and gentle approach to the work with longer preparation and integration periods, far beyond the single session Colorado minimum requirements. While these medicines can be powerful allies, they also can create experiences that are too much, too fast, which can feel harmful to a nervous system and psyche if not held properly. At Tethered Healing, we prioritize facilitating an experience you can actually integrate.
While we are proponents of this work, we do not believe psychedelic-assisted therapy is a front-line treatment. In other words, we believe this work is best for those who have already received weekly regular therapy for at least a year. We believe psychedelic-assisted therapy is not a replacement for good therapy, rather a supplement to existing work.
For psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy, we work with folks for a minimum of 4 weekly preparation sessions to establish more of a relationship and have time to learn more about each other without feeling rushed. During this time, you will develop somatic skills, experience co-regulation, explore the dynamics underlying your traumatic experiences and patterns, and receive experiential-based work that will help you feel more prepared to be open to what arises during your medicine experience. We personalize the dose for everyone, but we aim to help you have an experience you can integrate and increase as we go, as needed. We will also meet for a minimum of 3-4 integration sessions (pace determined per person) to support stabilization and growth following the medicine session.
At Tethered Healing, we believe that healing means holding, not fixing. Just as a plant does not need to be told to grow, we believe every being has an innate capacity and drive to grow. We believe that therapy can be the good soil you’ve been looking for to uncover your own innate growth and healing processes. We view each human as an intricate field of interconnected systems and support our clients in opening to the ever-unfolding complexity that they are. We take the perspective that nothing starts with us. Our gifts & burdens are also legacies, which also connect us to past and future generations as well as culture. At Tethered Healing, all of your parts are welcome. We know how hard it can be to carry shame, guilt, depression, anxiety, and grief around. We know how hard it can be to feel stuck in deep-seated patterns. We know how hard it is to see a way to live fully with PTSD and cPTSD. Our team takes a deeply personal approach to treatment and focuses on providing attuned, relational care. We provide a tether for you to explore the far depths of yourself, whether through psychotherapy, somatic therapy, or ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. We have extensive experience working with all forms and severities of trauma and PTSD, cPTSD, and moral injury.
Our model of integrative healthcare values all forms of medicine from allopathic to naturopathic. We believe that mind, body, spirit, nature/environment, & community are interconnected and our holistic approach addresses all levels of being. We welcome people of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, ages, religions, sizes, and abilities. We work with clients to address both root causes and symptoms. We use a treatment team model to patient care, meaning we collaborate within our clinic and with outside providers to ensure our clients are fully supported.
We specialize in working with folks with childhood and adult traumas. If you’ve experienced developmental trauma, childhood trauma, suffer from PTSD or cPTSD, served in the military, or worked in a crisis or helping role, we may be a good fit for you. If you struggle with dysregulation, shut-down, sensitivity, or dissociation, we may be a good fit for you. We also enjoy working with people who have been harmed by psychedelic experiences and are wanting to repair their relationship to medicine work or who are having spiritual issues/crises of faith. Finally, we enjoy working with people are just ready and willing to deep, meaningful work.
