Whitney Marris, LCSW

Trauma Therapist
Alexandria VA
Working with me may include elements of EMDR Therapy (EMDRIA-approved CIT & EMDR Certified Therapist), Somatic Experiencing with the Somatic Experiencing Institute, various forms of "parts work," including Ego State Work as well Internal Family Systems (Level 2 trained through the IFS Institute, with advanced training on IFIO for relationships with mixed neurotypes), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, polyvagal-informed yoga, art, doing movement, engaging in mindfulness activities, incorporating music, and practicing breathwork, among other approaches based on what aligns with participants’ unique lived experiences and best hopes. I will work with you to co-create the journey you seek to embark upon!
I believe in my bones that what is needed for the transformation you seek already lives within the universe carried inside of your Self. I am humbled by the sacred work of walking alongside those seeking to connect with their inner healing intelligence and to live in fuller alignment with their deepest truths. I am committed to co-creating a healing space with you where unabashed curiosity may freely unfold and (re)connection may take root. As a dedicated companion and compassionate witness, it is my honor to help illuminate a meaningful pathway forward. My practice draws upon the lineage and lifeforce of traditional healing landscapes, wisdom from emerging and evolving research and practice, as well as leading-edge therapeutic approaches to support whole-human wellbeing. Each experience is unique as I seek to honor all of the parts of you that are yearning to be heard, with the recognition that connectedness to Self, other, and the broader world is more robust and enduring when your voice, choices, and inner knowing guide the process. I would be profoundly grateful to accompany you on a sacred journey of exploration and integration by tapping into the transformative power of this work. 🌞 I am independently licensed to practice in Virginia, Colorado, Maryland, Florida, Vermont, and Washington, DC. Uniquely, I have a license to legally facilitate using plant medicine in both Oregon and Colorado. I hold certification as a Psychedelic-Assisted Therapist predominantly through education programs within the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, InnerTrek, and The Synthesis Institute. I teach in a masters program and provide consultation to other clinicians in the field of psychedelic-assisted therapy through a trauma-responsive lens, and have worked in clinical trials using psilocybin and MDMA as a consulting research therapist, in addition to working in harm reduction with individuals, relational systems, and groups in my private practice. Note: while I am experienced in working collaboratively to maximize safety through a harm reduction lens, please understand that I do not possess, provide, or help procure medicine.
Group, relational, and individual sessions and retreats, harm reduction, and an array of holistic, integrative practices to support you as you expand into wholeness!
