Aviva Wolman, AMFT
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
Berkeley CA
I collaborate with all of my clients very closely, as each one of us is ready to grow in different ways at different times in our life. It is my belief that you are the expert on your life experience, and I want to understand you before trying to change anything. This helps us work together to figure out what works best for you. I use a relational, intuitive perspective that varies based on each client’s needs. I also am a trauma-informed therapist, and try to find the narratives you may have learned at a young age about yourself in the world, (e.g., not being lovable, not being good enough, etc.), and help you rewrite them through a more self-compassionate lens.
I am an AMFT with four years of experience working with clients. I started practicing in hospice, working with patients who had terminal illnesses and their loved ones. I became very comfortable working with grief in many forms, and learned that it comes up way more often than just death and dying. I also became comfortable sitting with clients through problems I could not solve or make better. I am not afraid to go deep into emotions to fully understand them with clients, and process through pain. These experiences have become the foundation for how I operate in private practice now.
