Brad Thompson, MA

Psychological Associate
Santa Cruz CA
Brad's core practice focuses on the mind-body connection. Brad believes in the intrinsic healing instinct within each individual and only wishes to discover it alongside each person he serves. He approaches each person holistically and enjoys combining alternative and traditional ways of doing therapy.
Brad is a pre-licensed associate supervised by Dr. Lisa Black who is currently in his last year of schooling to obtain his Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Integrative Psychology. He has extensive training in neurofeedback, biofeedback, and traditional techniques with a particular interest in Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, and Ketamine assisted Psychotherapy. Brad has prior experience in the medical field working as an EMT in emergency settings where he witnessed the importance of physical and psychological health as being one and the same. He has gained clinical experience in a pre-doctoral setting at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) which fostered his knowledge in neurofeedback, biofeedback, and integrative psychology techniques within a medical setting. He has continued to practice integrative psychotherapeutic techniques within a medical clinic at the Loma Linda University Department of Psychology. In his free time, Brad will be seen playing fetch with his dog at the park, watching football on lazy Sunday afternoon, or trying not to fall while snowboarding.
Under the supervision of Dr. Lisa Black (PSY29110) we offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) at low psycholytic doses. This allows you to engage with psychotherapy while feeling the effects of the medication. Brad's clients may also experience "Journey" doses (low to moderate) followed by an integration session involving psychotherapy after the effects of the medicine wear off. This allows one to process their journey and any insights gained.
