My intention is always to collaborate with you and follow your lead and your pace. I deeply believe that you already have the answers and solutions that you need and that I am with you to accompany you in your journey. We will explore with curiosity about the memories and current issues in your life that you would like to change. During our sessions I will use somatic techniques to help you understand what your body might be trying to tell you. We might also get up and move together, do art therapy or go through a guided meditation together all with the intention of helping you understand what is coming up for you and lovingly supporting yourself. I look forward to getting you to know your individual needs and the vision that you have for your life.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in San Jose California. Over the course of 10 years of practicing therapy in a variety of settings I have found that nothing is quite as effective as helping people get back into their bodies and connect with thier inner Self in a safe and loving way. I specialize in treating trauma and in women's health. I first started on this path when I was working overseas in Ghana as a pharmacy assistant at an HIV/AIDS clinic. Most of the patients there were women who had not only discovered that they were living with this life altering diagnosis but had also experienced domestic violence or sexual assault. Since then, my career has focused on this same population as I have worked with refugees, asylum seekers, and mothers. During my time serving as a maternity social worker at Lucile Packard Childrens Hospital, I frequently supported women as they worked through difficult pregnancies, loss, grief and made hard choices for themselves and their families. I love working with international populations and mothers because I am passionate about addressing intergenerational trauma and finding new ways that we can stop the cycle of passing down the pain that our ancestors carried but that no longer serves us. Fun facts about me: I am a mother of two young children. I passed the State Departments language test as an Intermediate speaker of Arabic... but since I haven't practiced it in years, I have mostly lost that language skill. I love to run and dance and travel to new places.
