Courtney Watson, MEd, MS, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Oakland CA
My psychotherapeutic work is informed by Intersectional, Queer and Postcolonial feminist theories with an applied social justice lens. Clients can expect us to explore the various cultural identities they hold (ethnic, regional, religious, etc) and see how they influence their presenting issues. We look at intergenerational patterns starting from Family of origin messages traveling backwards to survival strategies passed down from historical cultural traumas. We talk about ancestoral connection and bring in aspect of spirituality that are important to clients. This is non-traditional psychotherapy informed most by the needs of the individual client. Doorway Therapeutics is the Bay Area’s premiere counseling practice offering integration services to People of Color and Queer folks by Queer and POC practitioners. Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy coming in 2021.
Courtney Watson is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. She is the founder of a group practice that prioritizes the mental health needs of Queer People of Color, BIPOC, and Queer folks with services offered by predominantly Queer, all BIPOC clinicians. Expanding into the realm of psychedelic assisted therapy, Courtney aims to address trauma experiences unique to Queer and BIPOC folks while also holding space for allies seeking a social justic lens in their trauma work. Courtney is currently completing a PhD in Human Sexuality and training to offer Ketamine Assisted Therapy in 2021. Courtney is looking forward to offering services that address the intersections of sexuality, trauma and the experiences of folks with marginalized identities in the future but for right now only integration services are available.
