I am a family physician, specializing in integrative and functional medicine and the mind/body connection. After graduating from medical school at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) with high honors, I then completed an accredited residency in family medicine and went on to complete four more additional years of post-doctoral mentorship in pediatrics. Psychedelic science was, for a many years, a side curiosity, which has since blossomed and become a greater focal point of my understanding of health and wellness. In my years in private practice I’ve come to understand the utmost importance of not only mental health, but also spiritual wellbeing, on physical health.

How I work with clients

I’m not like most other doctors. I don’t wear a white coat or rush you through visits. I actually joke that I’m more of a detective-teacher than a doctor, because I listen to your body’s clues to gain insights on what it truly needs to thrive and then I dedicate myself to educating you on what’s happening so that you can be empowered to make the changes you need to heal. Along the way I’ll use herbs, nutritional supplements, dietary counseling, lifestyle counseling, and sometimes pharmaceutical prescription to support you. I am also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), a gentle therapy similar to EMDR that’s great for breaking old patterns of thinking.

We talk about how the mind can affect the body, but the body, too, can affect the mind. Sometimes mental/emotional struggles are best handled in therapy, but sometimes they have their origins in organic imbalances that can be detected in the blood. For example, hypothyroidism is the number one organic cause of depression, yet most people living with depression never have their thyroid health assessed. Nutritional deficiencies, sex hormone imbalances, and food intolerances, too, can all derail our mental and emotional wellbeing. That’s what I’m here to help you with.

I treat patients of all ages in my cozy, calm micropractice, and also offer remote phone/web consultations for those who cannot come see me in person. For those who can’t see me in person, I’m still happy to chat with you remotely and offer second opinions and insights on how to best support your health.
