In my therapeutic practice, I employ a deeply collaborative and client-centered approach, prioritizing the unique needs, preferences, and goals of each individual throughout the therapeutic process. Here's an overview of my approach:
1. **Initial Consultation**: I conduct a thorough initial consultation with each client to understand their background, experiences, concerns, and therapy goals. This establishes rapport, builds trust, and allows me to tailor my approach to meet their specific needs.
2. **Establishing Goals**: Together with the client, we collaboratively set clear and achievable therapeutic goals that guide our work. These goals may evolve over time as the client progresses in therapy.
3. **Creating a Safe Space**: I prioritize creating a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves openly and honestly. Trust and confidentiality are paramount, ensuring clients feel respected and heard.
4. **Psychedelic Integration**: If incorporating psychedelic experiences, I provide comprehensive preparation and integration support. This includes education about potential benefits and risks, mental and emotional preparation, facilitating the journey, and structured integration sessions to help clients integrate insights.
5. **Holistic Approach**: I take a holistic approach, addressing the interconnectedness of body, mind, and spirit to promote overall well-being. This involves incorporating various therapeutic modalities tailored to each client's needs, such as mindfulness practices, somatic techniques, expressive arts therapies, and cognitive-behavioral strategies.
6. **Cultivating Self-Awareness and Empowerment**: I empower clients to cultivate self-awareness, develop coping skills, and enact positive changes in their lives. Through reflective inquiry, psychoeducation, and experiential exercises, I support clients in gaining insight and making conscious choices aligned with their values.
7. **Continued Support and Reflection**: I maintain ongoing communication and support between sessions to address emerging issues, provide encouragement, and celebrate progress. I also encourage clients to engage in self-reflection and practice self-care outside of therapy to support their ongoing growth and well-being.
In summary, my therapeutic approach is centered on collaboration, safety, empowerment, and holistic well-being, guiding clients on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and healing.
Hello, I am Johani Askins, also known as Juba, a compassionate psychedelic facilitator with a diverse background. My inter-cultural, multi-lingual, and multi-racial identity, coupled with ancestral connections to healers from Brazil, has shaped my belief in the power of diversity, privacy, and continuous consultation to create a safe and supportive space for transformative psychedelic experiences.
Having lived and worked with individuals from diverse economic and minority backgrounds, I deeply empathize and understand the importance of integrating body, mind, and spirit in balance. Witnessing the struggles of individuals from various walks of life, including veterans, those ensnared in cartels, and those affected by drug addiction and social discrimination, has strengthened my commitment to upholding integrity, kindness, and truth in my heart.
As a composer, singer, and instrumentalist, I infuse music into my psychedelic facilitation practice, recognizing its potential to enhance healing experiences. My dedication extends to the principles of non-violent communication and fostering inclusivity within the psychedelic community. I firmly advocate for safe and transformative psychedelic experiences for all, irrespective of their background or identity.
My journey as a psychedelic facilitator is guided by maintaining the right relationship with my clients, embracing self-reflection, and pursuing personal growth to ensure a responsible and compassionate approach. With a profound sense of inclusion for minority groups, and as a staunch supporter of the BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities, I am devoted to guiding individuals on transformative journeys, promoting healing, and contributing to a more compassionate world.
The Integrative Psychedelic Healing Program encompasses six key components:
1. **Initial Assessment and Goal Setting:** Begin with an in-depth assessment to understand the client's mental health history, challenges, strengths, and therapy goals. Collaboratively establish achievable therapeutic goals tailored to the client's individual needs and preferences.
2. **Psychedelic Preparation:** Provide comprehensive education and preparation sessions to ready clients for their psychedelic experiences. Offer guidance on mindset preparation, intention setting, and creating a safe, supportive environment for the journey.
3. **Psychedelic Facilitation:** Facilitate supervised psychedelic experiences using a supportive, non-directive approach to ensure physical and emotional safety throughout the journey. Offer personalized support and guidance to help clients navigate their inner landscapes and integrate insights.
4. **Integration Sessions:** Conduct structured integration sessions post-psychedelic experience to help clients derive meaning and integrate insights into their daily lives. Utilize various therapeutic modalities, including talk therapy, somatic techniques, mindfulness practices, and creative expression, to support the integration process.
5. **Holistic Wellness Practices:** Incorporate holistic wellness practices such as yoga, meditation, breathwork, and nutritional guidance to promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Empower clients to cultivate self-care routines and lifestyle changes supporting overall health and resilience.
6. **Ongoing Support and Follow-Up:** Provide continuous support and follow-up between sessions to address emerging issues, offer encouragement, and celebrate progress. Offer resources and referrals to additional support services like community groups and alternative therapies, as needed.
