Mary Meyer, PhD, LMFT
Licensed Marital and Family Therapist, Executive Director of Full Heart Family Therapy
Ankeny IA
I work with clients to create a treatment plan that is right for them. Healing is not 'one size fits all' and it best accomplished by consulting one's heart and inner healing intelligence. I work with my clients to access that information so we can work together to move toward their goal or ideal.
I have been practicing as a couple and family therapist for 15 years. I work with trauma and addiction, and its impact of the whole family, but at its core, my work is about helping people heal from the wounds their hearts suffer through this life of limitation on earth. To this end, I have gained training and experience in Imago relationship therapy, developmental and relational trauma work, EMDR, and psychedelic-assisted therapies. I am a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals, and I am an ordained interfaith minister with the Sufi Movement International.
Outside of work, I love to read, I enjoy nature and walking outdoors. I spend most of my time with my husband and two young children and our many pets. I practice Universal Sufism as part of my personal spiritual practice, as well as meditation, art, writing, and various forms of bodywork. I am on my own journey of healing from CPTSD, and I have extensive experience as both client and therapist in all the modalities that I use as a psychotherapist.
