Renee Maksoud, MA, AMFT, APCC

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor
San Francisco CA
I support individuals and couples who want to prepare, set intentions, and integrate their psychedelic experiences into their lives. I work to provide a space for deep self-exploration and emotional healing for my clients. Each session is uniquely yours, in a safe space where healing can develop. We'll uncover and transform outdated patterns, fostering new growth. I provide affirming care for all, with specialized training for LGBTQIA+ folks, guiding you towards meaningful change and deeper understanding in a supportive partnership. My expertise includes the intersection of Complex PTSD and its impact on self-identity, self-worth, and the ability to forge meaningful connections. Central to my approach is the exploration of how stress shapes attachment styles and influences our relational dynamics. I examine the nervous system's role in trauma response—such as the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn reactions—and how these instinctual responses inform our attachment patterns and coping mechanisms in relationships. By cultivating mindfulness and self-compassion, we can illuminate these ingrained patterns and gently guide the formation of new neural pathways. This process not only facilitates healing from past experiences but also fosters healthier, more secure attachments and transformative shifts in behavior.
I am a dual associate marriage and family therapist and associate clinical counselor with an emphasis on trauma-informed care, psychedelic integration, and personal growth. I am a queer woman of Syrian, Japanese, and Caucasian background with personal insight into the long-reaching ripple effects that complex trauma can create in individuals, families, and relationships. I have years of experience working one-on-one with clients in various clinical settings and a passion for helping people deepen their exploration and connection to authentic, meaningful living.
