Sasha Avanesov, PhD

Clinical Psychologist
San Francisco CA
I work from a holistic worldview, informed by psychodynamic, emotionally-focused, and transpersonal approaches. I weave mindfulness with other evidence-based practices. I fully believe in your ability to heal and will assist you on your journey towards wholeness. How that looks depends on the individual/system but folks I work with attest to experiencing hope, healing, and positive transformation.
I am deeply committed to helping people transform their lives. I'm a former refugee from genocide, came to the USA at age 15 and a half. I've a BA in Physics from Reed (thesis in biophysics), worked as a software engineer in Portland, OR for 4 yrs, and came to the Bay Area to get a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with an aim to integrate spirituality, psychology, and science. For the past 20 years, I have worked across environments in the therapy room, in-home, school, residential, outpatient, and Therapeutic Community milieu, predominately with folks struggling with addiction and dual diagnoses, most of whom were within the criminal justice system. I also serve as current President of the Association for Transpersonal Psychology (ATP) and have been certified in the basics of Org Design and Transformation, as well as Psychodrama. Additionally, led by inner spiritual calling, I have traveled extensively in Arizona and the Four Corners area. Reach out if any of this resonates, or if you are just curious to explore further.
